Are Urinary Alkalisers Recommended for UTI

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) provide clinical evidence recommendations. Their guidance in relation to UTIs is that urinary alkalisers are not recommended.
In addition, a Cochrane Review has found no evidence that urinary alkalisers are effective to help improve symptoms of a UTI – particularly burning, stinging and irritation (known as dysuria).
In truth, there is evidence to show that the pH (how alkaline the urine is) of urine has no effect on UTI symptoms.
Next time don’t pee your (or the governments) money down the drain.
